RULES AND REGULATIONS NOTE: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

1. The Exhibition will be open to the public at 10:00 a.m. on the 16th of September.

2. The grounds and building will be open to exhibitors on Tuesday, September 14, between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 15 between 9:00 a.m. and 12 o’clock noon hour for placement of exhibits in “Sections 11, 31 - 49”, inclusive.

3. Judging of exhibits in Sections 11, 31 - 49 will commence at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 15. Public and exhibitors not allowed in exhibition building during judging.

4. Intending exhibitors must be residents in Queens, Kings, Sunbury, Saint John and York Counties in New Brunswick, unless specified otherwise.

5.Entries should be made on the printed forms supplied by management or downloaded from this website. These forms must be filled in, signed by the exhibitor and sent by mail or hand-delivered to the Secretary, Queens County Fair, 20 Court House Rd., Gagetown, Queens County, N.B. E5M 1E4, no later than 12:00 noonhour on the 15th day of September; except for livestock entries, see Rule 29

6. Exhibitors must be the owners of the animals or articles which they exhibit.

7. After entering, exhibits will be supplied with a tag, specifying the section, class and entry number. This tag must remain attached to the animal or article during the exhibition.

8. All purebred animals must be registered, and the registration number given on the entry form. Registration papers must be produced for the Secretary or Judge, if required.

9. All fruits, roots, grain, vegetables & poultry, etc., must be grown by the exhibitor.

10. The decision of the Judge shall be final as to the respective merit of any exhibit, and shall be at liberty to withhold any premium in any department, if they consider that no animal or article is of sufficient merit.

11. Exhibitors wishing to sell an article may attach a price tag.

12. Exhibitors are requested to arrange their exhibits in as neat and attractive a manner as possible.

13. Safety of Exhibits - The Association will take reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of articles sent or brought to the exhibition, yet it must be distinctly understood that the owners themselves must assume all risk. Should any article be accidentally injured, lost or stolen, while the Association will give all the assistance in its power towards the recovery of the same, it will not make any payments for the value thereof.

14. Exhibitors will not be allowed the custody of any animal or article exhibited, after being placed in position assigned by the officers, nor to remove or interfere with it in any way, except under their direction until the close of the show, nor will they be allowed to be present nor to interfere with the judges in any way, while they are occupied with the judging of said exhibits.

15. All exhibits of livestock, fruits, vegetables, flowers, Household Arts, 4-H exhibits will be required to remain on fair grounds until 5:00 p.m., the last day of the fair. Failure to do so will be forfeiture of all prize money obtained and expulsion of exhibiting for a period of one year.

16. The judges are requested to make at the end of their book, before handing it in at the Secretary’s Office, any suggestions they may deem necessary for consideration by the Association with a view to improving the Prize List for future exhibitions.

17. All charges for space privileges and concessions must be paid for at the opening of the Exhibition and must not be removed until a release slip has been secured from the Secretary. Exhibitors must take charge of their exhibits at the end of the fair.

18. Exhibitors shall, if required, make a statutory declaration that the articles are exhibited in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Association, and in case any exhibitor refuses to make such declaration on being requested, all premiums awarded shall be forfeited. Any article or fixture left in the buildings or on the grounds at the close of the Exhibition will be entirely at the owner’s risk.

19. Exhibitors of animals, machinery in motion or other exhibits liable to cause injury or damage to persons coming in contact with them, shall guard their exhibits to protect the public from injury.

20. Should a situation arise where an unruly or unmanageable animal(s) could be a danger to the patrons of the fair, the chairperson together with his or her committee have the authority to ask exhibitor of said animal(s) to remove said animal(s) from premises. This authority is supported by the fair executive and board of directors.

21. This Association will not hold itself responsible for any printer’s or other possible errors in the Prize List. Such errors will be ruled by the context should they occur.

22. All protests must be in writing and given to the Secretary within two hours of the cause of protest. The complaint must be plainly stated and must be accompanied by a deposit of $20.00 which same will be forfeited to the Association if the said protest is not sustained.

23. Games of chance that do not conform with the laws of the Province or any illegal games of any kind WILL NOT be tolerated on the Exhibition grounds.

24. “Brucellosis -- All cattle six months of age or over (steers and spayed heifers exempted) will be required to pass a negative test conducted by an officer of the Health of Animals Branch within sixty days of the opening date of the fair.”

25. Ten percent (10%) of Prize Money will be deducted as entry fee except for Special Prizes and prizes in Sections covering “Children’s Day Program, Queens Co. Fair Children’s Work”.

26. Prize money for Horses and Cattle will be allotted by the group system except as otherwise noted.

27. Exhibitors are allowed to enter only one entry in a class, except livestock.

28. Tent and Trailer rental space is available at $60.00 each for four (4) days of the exhibition or $15.00 per single night plus HST. Space provided for trailer plus tow vehicle only.

29. Livestock entries should be made on the forms supplied by management submitted to the Secretary, Queens Co. Fair Inc., 20 Court House Rd., Gagetown, N.B. E5M 1E4, no later than midnight, August 31, 2010. A maximum of 4 stables per exhibitor, horse barn only to be allotted from office. Exhibitor of livestock who wish to rent a trailer space, forward payment ($25.00) along with entry form. (The $25.00 covers 4 days electrical hookup, 1 livestock pass and a delivery pass. Electrical hook-ups limited on a first come bases.) Exhibitors will be given first choices for electrical hook-ups.

30. All livestock exhibitors passes will be $3.00 per pass. A delivery pass with a time delivery of 1 hour will be allotted to each livestock exhibitor.

31. No livestock (cattle, horses, etc.) on fair grounds before 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 15. Placement of livestock will be between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12 midnight on Wednesday, the 15th of September. Poultry excluded.
