SECTION 1 DRAFT HORSE CLASSIFICATION
OPEN TO KINGS, QUEENS, SUNBURY AND YORK COUNTIES
All exhibits must be owned by and registered in the name of the exhibitor. To qualify
for prize money, the exhibitor must show in one (1) line class and two (2) hitch
classes. Each exhibitor will be paid $80.00 per horse in hitch classes and $40.00
per horse in line classes with a limit of six (6) horses per exhibitor. It will
be the decision of the Draft Horse Committee to allow additional horses should a
shortage of horses occur.

The competition is to be published as follows:
JUNIOR DRIVING COMPETITION
- Open to boys and girls 16 years & under
- Junior must drive team of horses (Draft Horses) hitched to suitable vehicle.
- An assistant is allowed on wagon, but assistant is not to interfere with “juniors”
performance either physically or verbally, unless “junior” has difficulty in handling
the team.
- Judges decision on placing is final.
- Fundy Mutual Insurance Company, Sussex, NB will provide a purse of $75.00 to be
divided among Jr. Driving Competitors.
LIGHT HORSE AND SADDLE PONY
1. Open to animals from Queens, Kings, Sunbury, Saint John, and York Counties in
New Brunswick.
2. No entry fee per class.
3. Limited to 38 animals in total of either light horse (less than 1,300 lbs.) or
saddle ponies (under 14.2 hands).
4. Stalls will be allotted on a first come, first serve basis. As entries are received
stalls will be assigned.
5. Ribbons will be awarded for all classes in placings of 1st through 5th.
6. Prize money will be allotted in a block fashion of $40.00 per animal. With a
limit of 4 horses per exhibitor. You must show in line plus at least half of the
allotted classes to receive the full $40.00. Which means half of the classes in
each of Section 5, 5A, and 7 for Light Horse animals and half the classes in each
of Sections 5A, 6, and 7 for Saddle Pony animals.
7. Any animals brought strictly for games or strictly for performance classes will
receive $20.00 per animal. Any animals brought strictly for fewer than 3 classes
will receive $10.00.
8. Prize money will be allotted at the discretion of the light horse committee.
9. Numbers will be available for each animal exhibited. Exhibitors will be charged
$1.00 per number per animal. A refund will be made on the return of the same.
10. Cheques are to be picked up when numbers are turned in to the office on Sunday.
11. No Stallions are permitted to show in Light Horse or Pony divisions regardless
of age either handler or animal. 18 and under must wear helmets in every class
including line classes.
12. Helmets will be allowed as proper attire in English and western Classes.
13. Light Horse & Pony exhibitors will use assigned gate for entry to classes.
14. Handlers will not be permitted in any class other than Little Tykes and Tiny Tots.
SECTION 4 - LIGHT HORSES
(Horses in this section should weigh less than 1,300 lbs.)

SECTION 5 - LIGHT HORSES
(Horses in this section should weight under 1,300 lbs.)

1. English Pleasure Horse - to be shown at walk, trot and canter both ways of the
ring. To be judged on manners, quality and performance
2. Western Pleasure Horse - Western saddle and equipment to be used. Riders to be
dressed in Western attire and only one hand on reins. To be shown at a flat-footed
walk, trot, lope and hand gallop both ways of the ring on a reasonable loose rein
and on the correct lead at all times. Must stand quietly when rider dismounts and
mounts, back readily. To be judged on performance, manners, conformation and appointments
3. Scutta Ho - pattern to be posted day of show
4. Parade Horse - to be shown with stock saddle or other colorful equipment. To
be shown at walk and parade gait. Appointments - 25%; performance, animation, manners
and conformation 75%

6. Trial Class - open to English or Western horses. Course to be posted day of show
SECTION 5A - LIGHT HORSES & SADDLE PONIES

6. Small Fry Pony Class - for children 12 years and under with ponies. To be shown at walk, trot and canter at the discretion of the judge
7. Game - Ponies 11.2 hands and under - for children 12 and under
8. Game - Ponies over 11.2 hands
9. Trail Class for Ponies - course to be posted on the day of the show
10. Scutta Ho - pattern to be posted on the day of the show
11. Little Tykes - for ponies and for children 8 and under must have handlers.
May not enter any other classes, except for Apple Bob and Costume
SECTION 7 - MISCELLANEOUS CLASS
(Light horse, under 1,300 lbs, or saddle ponies.)

1. Pairs Class - Horses - Western or English attire. To be shown at a walk, trot
or jog, and canter or lope both ways of the ring. To be judged on performance suitability
as a pair, quality and manners
2. Pairs Class - Ponies - Western or English attire. To be shown at a walk, trot
or jog, canter or lope both ways of the ring. To be judged on performance, suitability
as a pair, quality and manners
3. Costumes - Ponies judged on suitability, costume and manners
4. Costumes - Horses judged on suitability, costume and manners
5. Family Class - open to horses or ponies. Judged on performance as a family, quality
and manners. Open to two or more members of the same family
6. Command Class - open to horses or ponies
7. Tiny Tot Lead Line - May not enter any other classes except line or costume class
(rider 8 years and under)
8. Showmanship 14 and under - to be judged on exhibitor’s performance
9. Showmanship 15 and over - to be judged on exhibitor’s performance
10. Equitation 14 and under - to be judged on rider’s performance
11. Equitation 15 and over - to be judged on rider’s performance
